Song information

“Layla”, not unlike most songs, tells the story of an unrequited love. The titular Layla is Pattie Boyd, whose heart was ultimately stolen by Clapton from George Harrison. This story clearly proves the power of “Layla's” guitar riffs, which later became ones of the most recognizable guitar riffs ever and gave “Layla” the 27. place on the Rolling Stone 's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The initial version of the song also includes a quite long, although beautiful piano coda, so we – trying not to bore you - decided to record the “Unplugged” version. Well, the “Unplugged” version won some Grammy award too.

Trivia

On his last day as a welder, Tony Iommi, guitarist of Black Sabbath, lost the tips of his two fretting fingers. He had to drop the tuning and use lighter gauge strings, what became the distinctive feature of Black Sabbath.
